What's the Craic? is a short farcical comedy play that was performed at the White Bear Theatre in Kennington from 24th - 27th July and reprised at the Golden Goose Theatre on the 10th August.
I wrote, produced and marketed the play alongside a very talented cast and crew which led us to perform to sold out crowds. Having performed a 10 minute version of the play at a scratch night in Brockley (Scratch at the Jack) I was encouraged to pursue putting on the full version.
The play explores themes of friendship and change while using crack cocaine usage as a catalyst for the conversation. Each character processes the changes differently and their relationships with each other are challenged because of it. The absurdist humour of the world the audience finds their characters in is a reflection of people's general rejection of change or new ideas. No character is ever entirely right or entirely wrong , they each have their own perspective but what they are now adjusting to as they get older is allowing room for all of their egos to be seen and heard.

Thanks to Phoebe Dowling I was able to have my creative vision realized in this poster. The goal was to capture the eccentricity of Monty Python with a touch of Flying Circus and a dash of crack cocaine. I also aimed to evoke the cartoonish style of 1950s and 1960s movie posters, featuring floating heads with varied expressions, commonly seen in Hitchcock films. Other inspirations included Laurel and Hardy, and The Ladykillers.
The What's the Craic? Instagram account was also headed by me featuring a host of wacky video content which amounted to us having sold out shows.
